Lodge 41 FOP Memorial 2009 -- Franklin, TN

A new memorial honoring the five county law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty since 1919 was dedicated Wednesday in front of the old courthouse on Franklin's public square. The unveiling was part of the annual tribute by the Williamson County Fraternal Order of Police, Morris Heithcock Lodge No. 41.

"This has been such a great moment for all law enforcement officers in Williamson County, as we brought back members of the five families of these officers that hadn't been together at one memorial service for over 25 years," said Michael Kruggel, chairman of the events committee for the memorial service.

Law enforcement officers from various Williamson County law enforcement departments and throughout the state attended the service, as well as members from other states with connections to the officers honored.

The honored officers are: Sheriff M. H. Stephens, who died June 27, 1919; Constable Sam Locke, who died March 7, 1925; Constable Matt Sullivan, who died Oct. 29, 1933; Constable Clarence W. Reed, who died Jan. 28, 1944; and Deputy Sheriff Morris Heithcock, who died June 28, 1972.
